The Skateholm settlement are remnants of a hunter- and gatherer community from the Stone age. In 1980 archeologists found settlements and graves dating back 7000 years.
There is an accessible look-out by the Skateholm settlement that overlooks the old settlement and the newly finished wetlands.
The settlement is made special by the large amount of graves found in the area, several where dogs have been buried either with humans or on their own. Using the K14-method, the graves have been dated to about 5 250-4 900 BC and many of them contained weapons, jewellery and traces of clothes and ocher.
