The medieval church in Södra Åby was torn down and the current one built in 1869-1870.
The church is made of stone with tower and narrow triangular chancel. It was renovated in 1965.
The pulpit and altar are from the 17th century and remain from the original church, as well as the krucifix from the 1400s and the font from the early middle ages.
