Eye to eye (swe: Öga mot öga) is a unique exhibition at Trelleborgs museum that takes you on a journey that begins in the Viking age and then goes further back in time. Here you can among other things see the true-to-scale reconstructed models of the famous Viking merchant and The Queen of Vemmerlöv.
Visit Trelleborgs museum and experience the viking exhibition Eye to eye. It starts in the Viking age, eye to eye with a full-scale Viking with filed down teeth, then walks you back in time and Söderslätts history.
Who was the man you're standing eye to eye with? A well-traveled merchant who had their teeth as business cards. Or what's your guess? He is certainly the world's most famous Trelleborg citizen, mentioned in books and magazines all over the globe.
You will also meet "the Queen of Vemmerlöv" at the time of the Bronze Age. She received a stately high burial where she was dressed up in exquisite jewelry and clothes.
The time travel continues back to simpler times when nor farming or ranching existed. The country was covered by dense forest and people only lived along the coasts and inland waters. The 7000 year old tombs of Skateholm provide a unique testimony to people like you and me, with the same physical attributes, but with completely different abilities.
Skilled artists have helped to mold the various models. Step into this exciting exposé of 6000 years which also includes animals and nature. Witness how completely different the coastline and terrain looked when sea levels were much higher than today.
